DBG conducted a four-day training program on child protection for school focal persons responsible for child protection in Kahda and Daynile districts in October 2023 for 64 participants from 48 schools in Banadir region.  The target audience comprised teachers and members of the CECs who play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students.  The training was aimed at equipping the participants with essential skills in psychosocial first aid, case management, and referral support. The training employed an interactive and participatory approach, ensuring active engagement and practical learning.  Participants attended sessions that covered various topics, including child protection principles, child rights, trauma-informed care, and effective communication with children.  Case studies and role-plays were used to simulate real-life scenarios, allowing participants to practice their skills in a supportive environment.  Group discussions held to help participants share experiences and to facilitate peer learning and exchange of best practices. The training enhanced focal persons skills on child protection issues and it emphasized the importance of their role in safeguarding students.  It also provided the participants with practical skills to offer immediate support and care to children who have experienced trauma or distress.  It also equipped focal persons with tools and techniques for effective case management, including identification, assessment, documentation, and intervention strategies and lastly, it enabled participants to provide appropriate support and referral services, connecting children in need with relevant community resources and services.
