Daryeel Bulsho Guud (DBG) is implementing a 10-month life-saving WASH intervention in Beletweyne District from 15th August 2025 to 14th June 2026, targeting drought-affected and displaced communities in hard-to-reach and underserved areas. The project addresses urgent needs, as 91% of households rely on unsafe river water, 72% of latrines were destroyed by floods, and hygiene supplies are largely unavailable.
Aligned with the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) priorities, the intervention uses a multi-pronged approach targeting four IDPs and two villages in Beletweyne district through: rehabilitation and construction of water points, latrine construction and rehabilitation, installation of handwashing stations at health facilities, hygiene promotion campaigns, distribution of hygiene and sanitation kits, provision of spare parts for water systems, training of Water User Committees, and community-led environmental sanitation activities. The project aims to reduce WASH-related disease and mortality, strengthen community resilience, and promote sustainable hygiene practices in targeted IDP settlements and rural villages.
