Facilitate committee expansion or revitalization through consultation meetings and workshops to become more inclusive and participative of young people

The project team facilitated a series of consultative meetings with members of local peace and governance structures to discuss the findings of the review and to develop plans for expanding or revitalizing these structures.   The Meeting was designed to be participatory, and they involved a variety of activities, such as brainstorming, role-playing, and mapping.

The meeting was well-attended by members of local peace and governance structures, young people, and other stakeholders.  The participants were engaged and enthusiastic discussions and they made a number of valuable contributions to the discussions.

Monitoring Progress

Targets met for Indicator 1.1: Percentage of young women, men, and minorities who state they feel included and have a voice in expanded or revitalized local peace and governance structures.   As a result of the meeting, a number of plans were developed for expansion or revitalization of the local peace and governance structures. The plans included:

  • Increasing the participation of young people and women in local peace and governance structures
  • Providing training and support to local peace and governance structures
  • Raising awareness of the importance of peace building and conflict resolution
  •  Supporting women doing small business
  • Improving the older stadiums in Howlwadag district to mitigate the recurrent conflict among sports team and integrate youths in the community.

The project team successfully facilitated a meeting to expand or revitalize the committee through consultations that they can become more inclusive and participatory for the young people.  Participants included 20 Expended Local Peace and Governance Structure in Hawlwadag district
